Drag racing is one of the purest forms of motorsports around.
When people see the likes of two finely tuned high-performance rides go head-to-head, it makes the sport even more exciting.
Today, it’s a battle of the super-sedans as a German BMW M6 goes up against an all-American Cadillac CTS-V on the Cvdzijden YouTube channel.
The BMW offers 250 more horsepower than the Cadillac, with its peak power reaching 1250 hp; yet, that doesn’t mean that the Cadillac isn’t capable of being a close competitor.
Here’s more on the drag race and the final results.
Tough Competition: Two Thoroughbred, Turbocharged Super Sedans
Although the BMW M6 F13 HPT (high-pressure turbo) offers more horsepower, that doesn’t mean to say that the Cadillac CTS-V can’t catch up: once the drag race begins, it is quite clear to see that the Cadillac is tough competition for the BMW.
The two set off from the start line and head for the 31 MPH roll sign, the Cadillac manages to maintain its position at the front, even for some time after the two pass the roll sign and zoom off into the distance, the Cadillac manages to keep up with the BMW’s tail.
In fact, the entire way down the drag strip, the Cadillac CTS-V doesn’t give up and makes the race quite difficult for the BMW, even though the BMW M6 is the car with the most power, which many would assume could throttle any car below its mighty horsepower threshold.
The Results Are In: Both Cars Quick, But One Car Quicker
Even though the Cadillac CTS-V gave all it could, it didn’t quite match the performance figures of the BMW M6 – the Cadillac did continue to fight for the best figures and gave it everything it could. Yet, the BMW M6 did manage to cross the finish line with a much better performance.
In the end, the BMW M6 crosses the line with a top speed of 194.7 mph: it’s a pretty impressive speed compared to the Cadillac’s 166.4 mph, however, the performance figures were incomparable from the offset with the BMW offering much more power.
Overall, the Cadillac CTS-V did manage to offer great all-around performance.
It didn’t quite match the BMW M6’s power though, and therefore, did allow the BMW to take home the first-place prize.
The two cars did make for an awesome drag race, a seat-gripping one to say the least.
However, the BMW and its finely-tuned mechanics did manage to show the Cadillac who is boss.
